The Birdcage 1996
the kind of movie that births a lot of inside jokes & specific associations once you see it, which is always a good sign. toast, toothbrushes, and john wayne will never be the same!

Joe Pera Talks You to Sleep 2016
logging to sort of bookmark/dog-ear finishing joe pera talks with you for the first time. and i say bookmark because there are so many things i know i’ll return to. it’s unlike anything else. i love to watch an episode and fantasize about going to a park and running the bases and then realizing that’s a thing i could actually do. everything is within reach. some just require time & patience. but eventually, the beans will grow and meet each other & intertwine.

Nope 2022
trying to capture something to the degree your eyes see it & getting caught up in the eye of the storm. it’s really less about being able to offer proof and more about having proof that you were a witness. it’s all about possession and privilege. it’s all about seeing it for yourself, because then there is a chance that you are seen too.

Le Notti Bianche 1957
loving someone comes so easily, and only gets complicated when we realize they can love us back. then what’s natural becomes shadowed by trying to prove something. losing ourselves, and maybe even that spark too, in the hope of reciprocation. suddenly nothing is true, and nothing is easy, and the shadow swallows up what you thought could be yours.

Le Bonheur 1965
endless supply of flowers — what wilts will be replaced with something just as vibrant, until the life is drained from that too.

The Passenger 1975
jack nicholson, my unsettled, restless bestie. so beautiful, so present, so much under the surface. the way nicholson looks at people… it feels like the entire world stops. maybe it does.

Would It Kill You to Laugh? Starring Kate Berlant + John Early 2022
accidentally turned on audio descriptions half way through and fully believed a narrator describing bubbles was just part of the bit. loved it, i’d give it five scoops of hot caramel
