    More Packard brilliance, and every Packard film is a gift to be treasured. I laughed so hard my sides literally hurt now. Only something this absurd, this aggressive, this beyond the pale, could accurately capture the current zeitgeist. The bubbles of reality! (With that being said, I have no idea what the ending is all about...)

    I knew Toyah Wilcox was in this, and I just assumed Jarman would have her as Ariel, so I was rather surprised to see her as Miranda. I love the way he had the film evoke a mixing of temporal locale -- hundreds of years of history and mythology and costuming appear jumbled up (and this is even before the thing collapses into the shockingly bright revelry and the absolutely transcendent presentation of "Stormy Weather" that end the film.)
