    Obviously this one gets props for having maybe the two best action sequences in an MI movie, but its symbolism as a future of the franchise is dim. After raising serious questions about the series' ethos in the first act, Fallout immediately and abjectly drops them --along with the entire character of Ethan Hunt. Choosing instead to grasp at crumbs in the bottom of the post-The Dark Knight action movie plot bag.

    Giving this movie a rating or review is near impossible because it's a movie that shouldn't exist. Throw the horror tag at it if you want, but this is a tragedy about trauma and grief that has a proud lack of awareness of its own weight. It is completely unable to control its own momentum of tragedy, which barrels right out of the screen --scene after perfectly, immaculately executed scene. The fucking Icarus of movies. It doesn't matter how peerlessly…
