Derogatory, indeed, but "trash" is a term that critics began to helm beginning in the '30s and '40s. To me, it can fall into one of two categories: 1) the primary category, works of cinematic trash (certain sorts of monster movies, erotica, exploitation, faux snuff, etcetera), or 2) the lesser but still applicable category re: if you'd like to recommend films focusing on "trashy subject matters," e.g. a culture generally considered either indecent, disreputable, or lacking in class -- the general consensus, that is, for even of I don't personally agree with said popular opinion/this derogatory terminology, I think it could apply to the verbiage. This list -- my personal suggestions only containing films that fall into the former/primary category -- is more of an historical inquiry than an "opinion" of mine. I'm just trying to get the ball rolling in the least insolent way possible. I'm less interested in my own perception of this terminology and more interested in y'all's perception of it (films that you feel fall under this, dare I say, sub-genre). Please, suggest away, my friends, and feel free to dispute any suggestions as well.
