Sooooo thankful I caught this on its very short theater run where I live.

This was just an incredible film. It is beautiful, devastating, and existentially stimulating. It made me think about how you carry your past with you, how as you mature you become a totally new person that is not exactly the sum of the parts that led you there but not exactly separate from those parts either. It reminded me of how powerful love can be when…

How do we process our memories? How do we wrestle with who our loved ones really are? How do we deal with revelations about our past? This film is an incredible example of this processing, wrestling, engaging with our past and the ones we spent it with.

With incredible, nuanced performances from Paul Mescal and 11-12 year old Frankie Corio as a father and daughter, Calum and Sophie, spending rare time together at a resort, this movie is a prime…

This is a strange movie in the best way. I love the way the score over emphasizes the melodramatic elements; it’s actually comically used. Portman and Moore are at the top of their game here, in my opinion, and Charles Melton is a revelation. He is asked to do a lot here across from both Moore and Portman and he holds his own! I could honestly see any or all three of these getting Oscar noms.

    It’s kind of hard…

If I had all this, I would be kinder.

Or would you? Parasite is a movie that wants you to be on the “protagonist” family’s side but doesn’t at the same time. It is brilliantly written, crafted, shot, and acted. I have only ever seen one other Bong film, Snowpiercer, and loved it, but this film seems to be on another level. There is a lot to say about this film, and a lot of it has already been said.…

The worst part about having a mental illness is people expect you to behave as if you don’t.

I’m not sure where to begin, so let’s start with what I didn’t like so that we can get on to the good stuff. I really wanted to be able to give this movie 4.5 or 5 stars but it just had too many flaws (in my opinion) for me to overlook. To name a few, there is the dumb flashback with…
