Beat the Devil is special. It's almost the antithesis of the earlier Huston/Bogart/Lorre collaboration - The Maltese Falcon.
It feels European, not just because of the beautiful Italian locations. There's a big spirit of improvisation. Truman Capote was apparently writing the script day to day while production was underway. A lot of the film is just these cool cats hanging around and riffing. Robert Morley is king.
