  When I first watched Synecdoche, New York, I was deceived into thinking that the film had a larger purpose by its otherworldly cinematic scale, I’d convinced myself at the time that I was simply too uninformed to fully comprehend what the film was saying. I have since come to the realisation that Kaufman’s filmography is nothing more than an arbitrary glimpse into his miserably uninteresting perspective on life and death. Nothing could re-affirm this more than suffering through I’m Thinking of Ending Things, a film that feels as if It’s crying out for enough substance to justify its existence.
