Elliott’s review published on Letterboxd:
Wow, The Nice Guys blew me away with a hilarious screenplay, electric performances and a timely soundtrack that culminate in an excellent time capsule for the 70s and a joyous homage to buddy cop flicks from the man who created them.
Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling give fantastic performances and their chemistry is a joy to watch, their cautious and dysfunctional friendship is very well portrayed by slick cinematography and one of the best scripts in recent memory. I also loved the set design and colour scheme that further added to the fun and sleazy tone that the film aims and achieves to create.
An instant modern classic that pays excellent tribute to the hay day of comedy action movies whilst creating characters and lines that will hopefully be remembered for years to come. A must see.
