for the annual watching of this film, i think i'm going some of my family's favourite niche quotes (rather than getting emotional):

    britney spears
    ant or dec
    the eels
    papier-mâché lobster head

over the past few years, this has become one of my favourite comfort films. it doesn’t really surprise me; i’ve always been a sucker for beautiful food on camera. not only that but it is visually gorgeous, the soundtrack is perfect and the whole cast deliver wonderful performances. after hearing that julie powell passed away last week, this rewatch is tinged with sadness but it still feels like a warm hug.
