Honestly, I wasn't expecting it to be this good. Sure, the story is filled with lots of clichés, but there's a lot going on all the time to keep it interesting and entertaining. There's drama, romance, comedy, action, martial arts, Japanese ninjas (the bad guys, obviously), corrupted politicians, betrayal, and a lot more. Our hero is a magistrate's bastard son turned martial arts expert called "the flutist" (a Robin Hood type of hero the people adore). The final is quite propagandist, but I liked it. It's not a perfect movie but I was quite impressed.
