Em’s review published on Letterboxd:
The first time I saw this, I watched it three times within a week, which is completely unheard of from me. That's how much I adore this film. It's not as emotionally effective now, since I know it start to finish, but it's otherwise as perfect as ever in my eyes.
Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara both gave unforgettably powerful and nuanced performances. Carter Burwell's score is fantastic - I listen to it on the regular. I can't believe I still haven't watched any of Todd Hayne's other works, because his direction here was flawless as far as I can tell.
I could go on and on praising everyone and everything involved in this film, but my point is it's my favorite.
