Bro what who wrote this. Soooo slow and I lost interest like halfway through. It needed to be much sillier. I expected more from the banger movie poster and Reese and Tobey. I should have just rewatched teen beach movie

There’s very good 2001 hangout spot representation (coffee shops, 50s diners, video stores, pacific theaters). The TV commercials, billboard-lined streets, and excess of company logos made for a perfectly bleak backdrop for Enid’s summer of ennui. And I love when girls are weird and off-putting and kind of evil accidentally. I think this movie will haunt me

In the transitional summer between high school and what lies ahead, we follow the main character as she navigates cultural/familial expectations, bodily autonomy, self acceptance, etc. It's refreshing to see a coming of age film that doesn't center around the main character's self importance (as many of its white counterparts do). A must-see for the coming of age genre
