I love meatloaf. Both the food and the artist.
Things about 70s California I didn't realize:
1. Kids are just running around everywhere.
2. 15 year olds can open businesses.
3. Pinball was illegal.
Much like the winding roads of California, I liked the many twists and turns the film took. And perhaps it's because I've been watching more Bogdonavich lately, but the film reminded me a lot of his work. Also, that delivery truck scene had me on the edge the entire time. In a good way.
In a funny twist of irony, I know I would've loved reading these stories more than I did watching them.
The Artist and The Police Dinner were my two favorite. I had no connection to the Student story. Loved all the actors. They truly were characters. Can we get a Bob Balaban + Henry Winkler series of movies STAT?!
First time I think I've seen France in film not romanticized. And I liked that. That opening scene in Owen Wilson's story was beautiful in it's normalcy.
And as I'm writing this I'm just now getting the pun on the city's name. 🙃
