Enfant du Siècle’s review published on Letterboxd:
Through Huw Morgan's nostalgic memories we witness the life of his family in a coal mining town in South Wales at the end of the 19th century. In How Green Was My Valley we find a story about family values, traditions, and how to find the strength to overcome life's adversities. Huw remembers that idyllic landscape of Rhondda that as the years went by became grey, the joys and sorrows that his family went through, the daily life of the small town, the people who marked his life, the events that led him to grow up and forge his character. The grandest theme of this engaging and moving film seems to be the eternal return to our memory, to that place where we will always find comfort evoking indelible and idealized memories.
