Enfant du Siècle’s review published on Letterboxd:
A sophisticated and elegant piece of cinema, Le Samouraï is a restrain slow crime drama, carefully crafted with a unique mysterious atmosphere that haunts the viewer from the very first frame. Formally, stylish, every shot is precisely constructed and the lighting is superb; dare I say this film is close to perfection.
Alain Delon's presence is magnetic and the perfect fit for the role of Jef Costello, a solitary, good looking man impeccably dressed in a tailored suit who lives by a strict professional code that has isolated him. He embodies the quintessential antihero, a man that evokes a kind of loneliness that is bittersweet and beautiful.
Le Samouraï deservedly holds a classic status and it's easy to see why it has been so influential; it's an exceptional film.
