• The Greasy Strangler

    The Greasy Strangler

While watching this very off-beat, oddball 'comedy' I was questioning my own sanity...
Why the hell am I watching this nonsense film? The pacing is slow, the humour is just bland. the acting seems deliberately terrible. But something about it made me want to see where this all leads.
I think the thing that hooked me in and made me stay was the sound-track. or really the complete lack of one, it was just one very odd but catchy tune…

  • Grizzly Rage

    Grizzly Rage

This was just a miserable attempt at a creature feature!
    Absolutely miserable.
I want to review this but every time I think about it I just get so angry.

This feeling of rage is only intensified when you realise this is a David DeCoteau feature.
If it were a student project that somehow made it's way to streaming services, it could ALMOST (but not quite) be forgiven....
but the from the guy who brought us things like "Creepazoids" and "Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama" this whle thing just feels like an INSULT.

  • True Memoirs of an International Assassin

True Memoirs of an International Assassin

While there was nothing technically WRONG with this movie, there was unfortunately nothing that really stood out to make it worth recommending.
The opening sequence is probably the highlight of the film, which really tells you something about the rest of the film.

It just doesn't sit comfortably in any one genre, is it a comedy? maybe!
is it an action film? Maybe! is it a political thriller!? MAYBE!
But it doesn't lean into any one of these choices enough…

  • Creepozoids

OH. MY. GOD! Ha ha ha!
    This was CRAZY
This was so stupid, but so fun!
And that creature design, oh lord 😂
I knew what I was getting into as soon as it popped up "Directed by David DeCotou"

    And that CREATURE! oh lord!!!

The flip flop of the characters!
"I don't think this creature wants to hurt us!"
    next scene
"Now we have to kill it before it kills us"

AH! so so silly, but it's so great!

(Also, I know there's a lot of love for Linnea Quigly in here. There is a shower scene.)

  • Butt Boy

    Butt Boy

This movie was way better than it had any right to be!

When you tell me I'm about to watch a detective movie about a guy who shoves things up his butt.... I'm expecting something absolutely ludicrous and honestly, a bit gross.

But no, this movie managed to be really gritty and dramatic without being TOO crass.
The characters are well developed and are 3 dimensional, they exist beyond the walls of story being told.
    The tension between characters builds…

  • The Dark Tower

    The Dark Tower

I found this kind of 'meh'
I liked the idea, but the execution didn't seem to follow through.
I haven't read the books so I don't know how faithful this was, but it had a LOT going on that just gets completely ignored.

As much as I hate the current trend of making one book into 3 or four movies, this film really did feel like it could have benefited greatly from being a two-parter, so that it had more time to expand and focus on all the elements in play.

There were some very impressive visual moments though.

  • Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

My kids (4 an 7) have always been big batman fans. but they recently discovered TMNT, so after watching the most recent films, I went to to JB and bought a copy of this.
I didn't expect to much, I mean, look at it, its Batman and the TMNT's...

Colour me surprised. the plot is nothing particularly special, but the humour in this makes it well worth the watch!
There's a lot of great one liners between he turtles and…

  • Society

Being so late to the party on this one, I knew exactly what I was getting myself into.
    Well, I thought I did.

Even knowing so much about this film before I even sat down to watch it, it still managed to catch me off guard with a lot of its content.

    I think that's a sign of good film-making.

And if the story does nothing for ya, the gratuitous nudity and gross out body horror elements might!?

  • Slither

    Loved it.
    Short and simple. LOVED IT!

It was funny, it had great characters. it was a fun concept it through in some great homages to other movies without them being too in your face.

just a good, fun movie! no need to blather on about its elements or any of that, just go and enjoy its absurdity!

  • Zoombies 2

    Zoombies 2

    This movie wasn't terrible.....
or maybe it, was, but it didn't care, and so that made me not care?

FYI you need no knowledge of Zoombies 1 to watch this.

It starts with poachers trying to steal animals from a wildlife reserve. but one of the 'super bad-ass 'give no shits' uses her own house made tranquilliser... which seems to work in a stupidly convoluted way.
But oh my, what's this, an unexpected side effect is that the targets become…

  • The Thing

    The Thing

    interesting concept.
Seemed far more style over substance.

I think I'll have to take a look at the 1982 version which I'm told is much better.

On the plus side.... Mary Elizabeth Winstead

  • Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

    Just wow.

Seriously, the empire, or first order, or whatever the heck they're called now...
They seriously need to learn to build gigantic F**K off war machines without, stupidly placed MAJOR weaknesses... if you have the resources to build, literally the largest armada of literal PLANET DESTROYERS ever conceived....
You have the resources to hire a guy for R&D to make sure they wont literally POP when the big gun protruding from the front like a giant phallus is…
