While watching this very off-beat, oddball 'comedy' I was questioning my own sanity...
Why the hell am I watching this nonsense film? The pacing is slow, the humour is just bland. the acting seems deliberately terrible. But something about it made me want to see where this all leads.
I think the thing that hooked me in and made me stay was the sound-track. or really the complete lack of one, it was just one very odd but catchy tune…
This movie was way better than it had any right to be!
When you tell me I'm about to watch a detective movie about a guy who shoves things up his butt.... I'm expecting something absolutely ludicrous and honestly, a bit gross.
But no, this movie managed to be really gritty and dramatic without being TOO crass.
The characters are well developed and are 3 dimensional, they exist beyond the walls of story being told.
The tension between characters builds…
Being so late to the party on this one, I knew exactly what I was getting myself into.
Well, I thought I did.
Even knowing so much about this film before I even sat down to watch it, it still managed to catch me off guard with a lot of its content.
I think that's a sign of good film-making.
And if the story does nothing for ya, the gratuitous nudity and gross out body horror elements might!?
I liked this movie.
It was fun, it's that simple.
While it supposes itself as an biopic style film it is immediately apparent that more than a few liberties were taken with this story. (Some are even outright mentioned in the film)
We get the jist of what happened, Some young punks got together, made a loud, boisterous, ridiculous band. and they made it big!
There was Alcahol, drugs, women, cheating, lying, more drugs and women and an inevitable downfall…
I watched this for one simple reason.
My son got hooked on the song, and listened to it day after day to the point I thought I should probably show him the film.
You know what, I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed this.
The opening sequence sets the tone: Cops aren't fond of truckers, and are generally quite corrupt. Especially dirty Lyle, A cop who outright HATES truckers, will entrap them and bribe them out of their hard earned…
I was a bit worried about this one, having actually enjoyed the first film but was pleasantly surprised.
I was surprised by how they made the concept of the internet work.
I was also amused by Disney's self deprecation with the princess concept.
Visually, it's pretty fun, there's lots of little Easter eggs and nods to such and such moments. (And I can't believe they ACTUALLY introduced the dark web in a kids movie!)
The finale and how thy stop…
What good, Old fashioned raucous FUN this was.
They waste no time with backstory, Our depraved slasher with a propensity for power tools is up to his personal brand of murderous mayhem almost right away.
Murdering in public, in broad daylight, this is a guy who clearly gives zero fucks!
Happily dispatching our scantily clad beauties with abandon.
Along for the unfortunate ride are the sex-happy jock, and the lovable goofs just out to playfully cause trouble as a vie…
The portrait of a man slowly losing his mind. And a society that simply does not care.
I like this.
It's an incredibly slow burn, but with a great payoff.
I honestly don't want to delve to far into this one as I feel like you need to go into it blank.
Phoenix does a fantastic job on this. His slow decay is almost palpable.
This movie is great, and I sincerely mean that.
It's great, but I felt like it could have been better.
I loved, LOVED that they kept Harley more surly and bad than just flipping to straight up good. Her overall character was likeable, but also slightly annoying, as it was meant to be. I cant wait to see how this portrayal develops as there is such a wealth of opportunity to be had with this character.
Also, loved the nod…
A very clever werewolf/coming of age story.
The vicious transformation taking place in Gingers body from man to beast, perfectly mirrors her pubescent transformation from girl into woman.
Visiually stunning, the darkness and bleak colour pallet serve the story well.
The acting is adequate, neither remarkable, nor faultable.
Being a film made in 2000, at the dawn of the digital effects age, I applaud there decision to stick to solely practical effects. And those are kothingnto sniff at! The designers…
heh heh heh.
This movie knows how bad it is. it doesn't even try to hide it.
some of the montages are just so god awful, but the fact that the actors intentionally over-act them make them silly and fun. (I'm looking at you, strange work-out scene)
The visual effects are literally non-existent to hilarious effect and the practical effects are almost as bad.
In some scenes you can see the dinosaur gloves hanging away from the actors hands, and…
Tubi kept trying to auto-play this film after everything I watched, so I decided to give it a go. SOOOO Glad I did, one of the best super-hero films out there.
Think Deadpool meets Kick-ass with a splash of 'the boys' and you're in the right ball park.
The costumes are great, the characters are relatable and everything is delivered in a pretty organic way.
The whole vibe is just so charmingly self-aware
The acting is…
