I was a little underwhelmed with a lot of the films I saw at Monsterfest 2019. this title was one that I missed due to a timetable clash.
Watching in now I'm shattered I didn't see this on the big screen!
The pace this films sets is unforgiving. It is a relentless assault on the viewer, very rarely slowing enough for you to really take in what you have just watched. This sounds horrible, but it really works in this…
This film is like an Onion, it may offend some people, but it just has so many layers.
I really want to be disgusted by this. But I can't be. its a masterpiece of film making!
At first glance its all about the shock-value caused by this human filth. But as it progresses, you start to see what's really happening underneath it all.
It becomes this fantastic exhibition on the human condition. our need for approval, togetherness, understanding. It's a…
Balls to the Wall CRAZY!!
We start with a short build up of who Miles is and why we should (or maybe even shouldn't) care about what's about to happen to him.
Then when it does, it's just non stop, over the top blood soaked action.
Not the bad type of action either, that takes itself too seriously, this is HILARIOUS from beginning to end.
From the interactions between Miles and, well, anyone he meets. Trying to hide…
Aw HELL YES!
This is the best Aussie B movie since "Muederdrome"!
Everything about this is just plain fun.
From the over the top Bogan-esque cast to the In your face set ups.
The way the aliens mimic humans is BRLIANT.
Agh, it's hard to rave about without giving things away but oh man! Thought it would be dumb but the only thing stupid about it was the stupid amounts of fun!
Wow.... just, WOW!
Watched as part of Monsterfest 2019
If you ever wanted to see a movie, where a DINOSAUR wins a girls heart by playing charades... you've come to the right place!
From word go you know this is going to be special. Paul Walker as a 'dreamy teen' with his midriff showing, Denise Richards pretending she can both Act AND Dance.
Then, an over the top fight 'Bad Boy' Billie.
MAd scientists deciding they will immortalise themselves by…
"The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what you share with someone else when you're uncool."
Wow, what an incredibly introspective and powerful film!
Rarely is it that a movie is lauded so highly and not only meets expectations, but surpasses them with relative ease!
The characters feel real, these people feel like people you know. We've all known a Penny Lane. The way William Miller is written, that could be me, or you, or anyone you know.…
WOW! Just, WOW!
Having never seen this film before, but hearing it spoken of many times over the past 25 years, I had some very strange expectations of this grubby, grimy, horrible, pointlessly disgusting exploitation film.
What I got was a poignant display of the effects of abuse, a strange insight into the mind of a child, their abilities to see the world not as it is, but how they want to see it. Innocent and good.
There was a…
All the crazy, bloods packed carnage you'd expect of a Rodriguez outting, great casting too!
It's quite amazing he managed to weave such strong politics seemlesly into what is essentially a grindhouse movie.
Also love the incredibly strong women in this film, another great staple of his work.
I know A LOT of people wil sat 5/5 really?
We'll, the story wasn't super original, that was never what this was about.
This movie oozes style. The Cinematography, the choreography and don't even get me started on the soundtrack!
This movie takes the sensibility of an arthouse visual production, and applies them to a AAA title with the type of cast that people go to bed dreaming of!
What this movie, I won't even say LACKS in plot, is made up for with a visual and audio senstation that more than makes up for it.
So yes, this for me is a 5/5.
Wow, what a movie!
Reynolds acting is top notch, and the supporting cast do superbly.
The whole concept of exploiting people's insecurities is used to full effect here and while this could have come off as camp "b grade" throw away material, an odd sense of seriousness kept it both grounded and hilarious.
This is a very rare breed of movie that ties action, comedy, psychological horror and Scottish cats into the perfect storm.
