This isn’t even entertainment, much less the art it desires to be. I hate it and it’s not even the contrarian in me, it just sucks beyond performance and design.

It’s Star Trek: ToS without any of the interesting characters!idrc that Carpenter feels this was misunderstood; it’s not funny in the least and the action is awful (positive reviews from the time seemed to appreciate the action, how idk!).
Henstridge’s terrible acting sure does give you a better understanding of the nuance of your average (as in common, not quality) performance. The shot where’s she’s looking at the cctv camera, begging to be let back in demonstrates that acting without a scene partner is significantly more difficult. Still, the fact that they couldn’t get a better take than that one astounds me.

The Forgotten Blockbuster EpicWatched the theatrical cut. Looking forward to seeing the extended cut when it gets a new release. Holy fuck that second act turn through 90% of the third act! Hopefully I’ll write more than this but it’s midnight and I’m tired.
One more thing before bed: I shouldn’t have been pausing and texting but my dad said one particular drowning scene still haunts him to this day. Afterwards, that had me close to tears cuz…

How Did This Get Made?*
Third viewing at least. First seen back when I was just a lad in high school. No revelations this time; just plainly a movie I absolutely love and could probably watch a thousand more times.
*but about great movies that probably shouldn’t have been funded due to lack of commercial viability.
