    Past Lives

So many thoughts about this but what's stuck with me the most is how empathetic this movie is; all three leads have their turmoils and each of them is shown in the most caring and sensitive way possible. The Before trilogy comparisons really stand. Ultimately, it ends up being a film about loving someone's happiness more than you love them, and all the 'what ifs' that come with that. People cried, I may have been one of them.

Yeah it’s obviously a middle chapter and a first-half of something else but damn. Vibrational! Sensational! Whoaaaaaa!

The thing about Brian De Palma is, he is gonna MOVE that camera.

  • Hardcore

    Fucking hell.

  • Obsession

Above all of De Palma’s directorial greatness, I have to applaud him for being the one director who understands just how disturbing John Lithgow could be. The camera does many cool things in this one!

    Top Gun: Maverick

Am fully prepared to say that this movie is, indeed, one of them ones. Tom Cruise is him.

As much as I thought this was just fine the first time, this hit a lot harder for me this go around. Maybe Maverick is just that good of a sequel that it makes this retroactively better but man, it absolutely rips.

Honestly? Yeah, it’s fucking incredible. Went in with mild expectations but this just hooked me from the start and did not let me go. Not seen any of Johnson’s other work but goddamn this is goooood shit. Cast is A+ but Glenn fucking Howerton, man. Fuck! And that opening credits sequence? The needle drops? It goes so goddamn hard. Man.
