Erica Acevedo-Ontiveros’s review published on Letterboxd:
An excellent film with a lot of heart. It is a fun and good time seeing Murphy's performance develop and grow. I found myself cheering for Dolemite, perhaps it helps that I remember the film and their popularity, but Murphy's optimism is also infectious. Lady Reed is a delight and Snipes practically steals the film from Murphy. But it is the indomitable spirit of Black culture that rises in this film and offers the bounce and hope that makes this film such a delight.
