Beautiful, suburban-driven, anxiety-fueled psychological horror drama where what you can't see can hurt you the most.
I love how open-ended this is with no real answers given for why Carol is experiencing what she is, or what exactly started it because it doesn't really matter. This is who she is now, and the people in her life must help her manage the pain, fear, and trauma.
Also should go without saying that this is even more relevant today, and post-Todd Haynes work last year in Dark Waters, where the powers that be are rolling back the power of the EPA to regulate the kinda of chemicals we come into contact with. Who knows what's out there that might affect you or me.
