Regular Show: The Movie

Regular Show: The Movie ★★★½

Cinema Hill Blurb: Regular Show Movie

Regular Show is my favorite show to come out of Cartoon Network (outside of Over the Garden Wall which is a miniseries). All the characters are hilarious, have fully fledged personalities and multiple episodes have been dedicated to everyone besides just Mordecai and Rigby. It’s the ultimate BRO show for me. So a movie based on this makes total sense and it’s what I would expect from a “regular” movie. A time-nado, evil Volleyball teachers, and battles for the fate of time itself is totally a regular movie concept. So in terms of the narrative, I’d say the best thing about it is Rigby’s arc. In the later part of the show (specifically season 7,) Rigby went through a major growth arc and this movie (which is canonically right before S7) is like the prologue for that future growth. It’s a testimony towards the strength one of my favorite friendships in animation. Mordecai and Rigby will always hold a place in my heart. In terms of any negatives the only one I can give is that maybe the climax is a little underwhelming (but I guess that’s a nitpick). Also, quick off topic, but even 4 years later. The Regular Show Finale being shafted for Teen Titans Go still makes me mad.
