EudoraFletcher’s review published on Letterboxd:
On the occasion of the incomprehensible interest in the Remake from 2020 with a CGI-dog, I decided to watch this version from 1935 with Clark Gable. The movie puts me back in my childhood! I remember adoring Clark Gable ;-).
Here you can watch a (real) Saint Bernard dog with the main character searching for gold. The locations and recordings are very well done, considering the age! The dog is likeable too. Probably it´s not a close adaption to the book, but I don´t remember the book, so I don´t care.
Of all the versions I have seen untill today this one I like the best so far.
I don´t beliieve that the new movie can keep up with it, so...
...my suggestions: Safe the money for the cinema and check out this version on
