The Confession ★★★★½

Not as dynamic but no less riveting than Z - full of jerky, pummeling abbreviated horrors that are only intermittently relieved by sad, elegiac ellipses of future days of a different type of confession.
At its core as much an attack on the communist authoritarian state as Z was on the authoritarian military junta - making it clear that his political passions lie with the honest and oppressed rather than any ideology.
Really a masterclass in camera moves and editing to get across a perfect anxious terror.
