Evan Whitford’s review published on Letterboxd:
Genuinely makes me wonder what awful record deal De Palma was in that inspired him to make this. It has the glam goth aesthetic and visuals I adore, a brilliantly wacky script, and a consistently beautiful soundtrack. The film also crafts a much more beautiful love story than it’s source material. Phantom Of The Paradise masters a spectrum of emotions, while doing so with such elegance, humor, and originality. A cult classic for the ages and one of the finest musicals that’s graced the screen.
