Rocketman!! 🤩 I was gonna go do homework while my family watched this, but then I saw the opening scene from the kitchen, and that was that, I was drawn in and had no choice. What could’ve been a standard, run-of-the-mill biopic is enhanced immeasurably by moments of inspired fantastical expression, in which the film leans into the unapologetic artifice of the musical genre to convey internal states through artistic visual means. I love it when movies do that!! Alive all around with a vibrant spirit true to its one-of-a-kind subject, not to mention a brutally honest look at the perils of fame and the road to recovery.
