Salma Hayek plays Everly, a woman trapped in her own apartment while she is hunted by a horde of different assassins and armed people .. And that's about it! We are told why she is the target of so many but in a film with so much gun play, violent scenes and parts where it feels ripped from a video game none of it really matters! Don't watch such a film expecting too much of a plot .. Better to just turn your brain off and enjoy the body count.
While working as valets at a fancy restaurant, best friends Sean and Derek take turns robbing the houses of certain customers while they dine. Sean jumps at the opportunity to rip off Cale Erendreich (played by David Tennant of 'Doctor Who' fame) but ultimately finds himself regretting it when he discovers what is stashed at Cale's home ....
The film has some uneven scenes but makes up for it in other places and has enough thrills to keep you interested…
Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. play two pals who dress as police officers for a costume party then pretend to be actual cops outside of it but soon find themselves in over their heads! The two male leads are believable as friends (they were both on the series 'New Girl') And there are quite a few funny moments here and there (some of which were unfortunately shown in the trailer ...)
After a messy break up, Martha (Anna Kendrick) meets a seemingly perfect guy in Francis (Sam Rockwell) but there's only one problem in that he is a hitman! The two leads play off each other really well and some of the sequences / violent scenes seem a little cartoonish (but that isn't a a bad thing!) It is a fun movie where you can simply turn your brain off and enjoy the quirky Kendrick who seems to be comfortable in this role and who steals the show.
