Pretty solid. Phoenix is of course great and the production design is immersive but the script feels a little undercooked. I think that the idea that this is a movie for/about incels is completely stupid though, especially when it’s so heavy handed with its messaging about class conflict and mental illness. Also, every attempt to include Bruce Wayne of most recogniseable Gotham City trademarks are embarassing. If you want to make a Joker movie, why make it about the Waynes as well?

This film though is much smarter than the majority of those films and the script is so tight and perfectly paced, toned and full of foreshadowing that it’s hard to catch everything without more than one viewing.
