Re-watched this as a double-bill with Abigail’s Party and it was by far my favourite of the two. Still extraordinarily funny and there’s a warmth displayed to the characters (even Keith) that is lacking in AP.
Funny and hellish, but it also has more than a whiff of the condescending anti-suburban prejudice of e.g. Leonard Bast in Howards End being killed by a falling bookcase. John Carey would have a few things to say.
