Well, I won’t be sleeping tonight 😀
Maybe even better than the first, and a brilliant reminder of how damn good James Wan is at horror. I love that he keeps veering out into different genres and brings some unique vision to them, but I don’t think he’ll ever be quite as effective as when he directs horror. Manages to be equally terrifying, suspenseful, and entertaining.
He would kill it with a mystery film though, especially something in the vein of Se7en or Prisoners, especially evident in how he was able to build the suspense and mystery with this film. Hope he tackles one some day.
Manages to be unsurprisingly amateurish yet also exceedingly detailed and well-crafted at the same time. You know, given the title and general ridiculous concept.
I’m still not sure if this was a Joe Dante-like effort at making an A-quality B-movie or not, but it’s damn close and makes for a pretty entertaining time.
