    The Dark Knight Rises

Wish this wasn’t named the dark knight rises. Maybe Batman rises would’ve been better since this feels way more like a sequel to Batman begins than the dark knight.

Positives: Good cinematography (a bit bland tho) Characters are pretty likeable ig, Selina, Bruce, Robin, Gordon. Bane is great in the first half “do you feel in charge?”  Good CGI and great performances. Has some of the best moments in the franchise “Bruce Wayne?” Finally, I did watch the IMAX version (on…

The WKW hype is starting to increase further for me. First time watching this I didn’t really enjoy it much. I appreciate it more on the second view. My first introduction to Anno was his anime NGE, didn’t like it. Watched the movie EoE and fell in love. Watched the rebuilds and it solidified my love. Now to see how he handles his live action works is almost exactly what I imagined.

His favourite theme of escapism is here in the forefront, themes of loneliness and the longing to escape it. But also, I do love the meta commentary, the director almost being Anno’s avatar in this desolate…
