2001: A Space Odyssey 1968
I have never more blown away by a movie before. 2001: A Space Odyssey is a psychedelic experience of visual story telling. The sharp vibrant colors, the selective lighting, the spinning sets, the meticulous camera work are so hypnotic. Kubrick uses all these tools submerge the audience into the ambiguous narrative.
This is the definitive Science Fiction Film. The practical effects still hold up today. I saw it on a HD Blu-Ray and it looks amazing. In an extra special on…

Dune 2021
Denis Villenueva can do no wrong. Dune, based on Frank Herbert's books, is a fascinating epic if you let yourself get immersed into the world. I was worried that certain aspects of the book would translate horribly on the big screen but they made it work even better than the book in my opinion. This project is so grand in scale. Chungking Express 1994
I love the setup here: The quirky individual voiceovers and jump from perspective to perspective. The film was pretty clever and charming at the same time. I liked the first story a lot but didn’t care enough about the second one. It just didn’t resonate with me as much as I would have hoped. Still a good experience overall

It's Such a Beautiful Day 2012
Simple animation and a thoughtful meditation on existentialism. Who woulda thought it would be a great combo? I feel like this is a must-have experience. Watching this film makes you think about your own life: childhood, parents, distant relatives, friends, time wasted, and your own mortality. I think we all want to have meaningful lives, but we gotta live one day at a time. I definitely wanna revisit this film in a year and see where I'm at

The Matrix Revolutions 2003
90% of this movie is forgettable filler CGI action scenes. The scenes that aren't this don't live up to the original. The oracle isn't as interesting. Agent Smith feels less threatening despite being more powerful. Morpheus has nothing to do. Neo and Trinity's character arcs feel incomplete.
