loved the rizzo-from-grease cynicism suzanne pleshette was doing here; i only wish we’d gotten to see more of annie and her romantic defeatism. i loved it so much — it was very ‘waterloo’ by ABBA. (another thing i love: her name — pleshette — like a fancy toilet paper brand.)

this felt a bit soderberghian to me, tho not quite as whip-smart as his version might've been. that said, there are moments of brilliance, like the way dianne wiest's face is used here; there's always something latently scary in smiles like hers, so it's gratifying to see that brought to the fore. i also love it when rosamund pike makes me hate her. would not say no to more movies that visit rage and terror upon elderly people scammers either!
