There's no better way to start the spooky season with a classic (although the summer weather right now isn't really helping the with the vibe honestly). I maybe only watched this once completely probably more than a decade ago, so I was quite excited to finally give it a rewatch. It's a truly heavy and just sad movie overall. It flows so nicely from scene to scene, building up slowly towards the big finale.
Fearing the next shot is probably the best way to describe this movie. Really effective atmosphere, solid on the edge moments, and an interesting and ambiguous plot that leaves a lot to the viewer to interpret. The jumpscares were sadly a mixed bag for me; there's only a couple, and although they all have in common a very well-constructed moment of tension, half felt cheap and the other half really good.
