I didn't expect to like this so much.
But once it started and I saw Tom Adkins, heard that synth, and then saw Donald Pleasance as the American president, I knew this was John Carpenter just doing Carpenter things. Then in came Kurt Russel and he just took it to a whole other level.
I wish they'd had a much bigger budget to just do all of the things they could have done. But Carpenter did a lot for a little and it's just a fun ride. Well earned cult classic.
