So disappointed by this. I haven't been this bored watching a film for some time, it honestly needed to be a 30 min short. Half star for the last vignette, half star for the shot of the scenic valley, and another half star for pot shot man.

A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence

    ★★½

A few brilliantly deadpan sketches (especially the opening series), but too many of them fell flat. I appreciated the couple of (relatively) colorful and warm scenes sprinkled in, however the large set piece with the horses is nothing compared to big scenes at the end of the other two, or even the tablecloth scene from You, the Living. Maybe Anderson's style wears off the more you watch, or maybe I needed more tuba.

As a huge fan of the original and Stand Alone Complex, I came in with low expectations, but, my god, this was still astoundingly disappointing. I would have taken a mediocre plot with competent direction and visual flair, but it failed on all counts.

The only interesting visuals were pulled (without any of the themes or subtext) from the 1995 animated classic. The blocking and camera movements were completely pointless, the acting was horrible, and the editing had me yelling…
