10/19/19 - I’m at a loss for words. What did I just watch?
Next day: This is a masterpiece and should be recognized as such.
Today: Gathered my thoughts. A powerful, thematically rich story that is incredibly important for the times we currently live in. Virtuoso direction, acting, blocking, cinematography. Like many of the best Korean films, it cannot be simply categorized as one genre. With many twists and turns, it is an absolutely absorbing watch. Any film that can get an audience to laugh, cry, gasp, and yell in the same 2 hours, is a damn great piece of art in my book. The performances and direction are what stand out the most to me. Definitely a film that warrants a rewatch. Will surely study from it in the coming years.
