comments about the tone of the film being misconstrued between the gargoyles and y’know, the genocide are slightly lost on me. i think some people forget it’s a children’s film, and while that shouldn’t mean the quality should be lesser, the film without them would be a tad too dark for Disney audiences i think as you can fill in the blanks of what they’d be replaced by. i don’t like to think of it as insensitive rather than attempting to connect with a younger audience.
plus i see them more as quasimodo’s mental escape from reality, as in they’re not really there.

accidentally fell asleep at the end of act one into the middle of act two - no fault of the film, i just hadn’t slept - but from what i did see, i enjoyed. i can’t make any comments on the film yet due to this, only that my friend cried with laughter during billy’s impromptu song, made my half hour nap well worth it.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

15th rewatch and it still holds up. Even though the concept is relatively simple, the more you think about the fallout and consequences just makes the whole film more beautifully tragic. The ending can’t be seen as a good resolution, which is what I thought upon the first watch, it makes the entire trauma of the film pointless for the main couple, knowing that their cycle will repeat once more with (probably) the same outcome as before, as there’s no…
