three of these stars are for the opening sequence alone. absolutely blown away by the collection of weird props and set pieces used in this film, all of which were totally lost on me as a teen.

somehow, unbelievably, i managed to not get spoiled about this film. and i am grateful to the hollywood theatre for hosting a reprise showing after it won best picture — i would have been so disappointed to have only ever seen it in my living room.
