    Frankenstein

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Similarly to Dracula (1931), this movie rushes past some critical moments, and although the 70-minute runtime is convenient (certainly for impatient viewers like me), it is hard not to yearn for a longer cut where the transition from 'the Monster' being tortured to him trying to break free would feel less jarring. Frankenstein himself mentions how the monster he created absolutely loathed Fritz because of the torment the hunchback servant inflicted upon him, but as a viewer our only experience…

    Dracula

It goes without saying: Bela Lugosi's performance is an all-timer one that overshadows (unfortunately) Dwight Frye's almost equally amazing performance as Renfield. Not only that, but the movie's simple yet effective cinematography leads to an impeccable atmosphere, one of darkness and intrigue. Antichrist

Aside from its superb editing and camerawork, Antichrist ends up being a disappointment for someone (me) who expected to either viscerally hate it or to hail it as a masterpiece. Not offensive enough to stir a reaction, although it would be disingenuous to say that the few moments where it does delve into gory territory aren't at least memorable. As for the content of the movie itself, I can't say it truly gripped me as its "plotting" ends up being…
