Detroit ★★½

The social history as horror film concept might’ve had some bite, but I don’t think Bigelow even quite find the exactly tone for the midsection to work, it exists in a nowhere land between docudrama reenactment and pure exploitation that ultimately serves neither. She remains very good at accumulating physical detail and cast tries hard to glue the film weaker elements. Final act is also a little limp in its needs of marry narrative fluidity with information.
