Filipe Furtado’s review published on Letterboxd:
Very much a Campion movie about the interplay between force and desire. Just great use of the harsh frontier setting set against her overwhelming sensual approach. One is always ready to get lost to the world, but very self aware abour it. Everything puishing about it also makes it more attractive. This is limited a bit by Cumberbatch who is quite good overall, but can't complete leave behind a certain movie star narcisism, his openness comes with a desire to be understood that sits bad with the drama. Campion does make a great use of opposing him and Plemmons, two very different types of overactors, their mutual acting effort so visible on screen, it makes all the tension more pronounced. Some real good work by Dunst as well.
