If Mary Elizabeth Winstead is ever in
desperate need of someone's kidney or,
to be honest, even a heart transplant,
she can most definitely hit a homie up. -
80/100
10 Cloverfield Lane runs like clockwork. Beginning with a simple, Hitchcockian setup (complete with a Herrmann-esque score that kicks all sorts of ass), Dan Trachtenberg's debut feature lays out its mysteries like a jigsaw puzzle, building up the inner geography of the main location while allowing a few pieces to go missing, ratcheting up tension as a result. As an economical narrative, it's flawless, playing with rich, interesting characters in an enclosed space, and every frame is still, watching and planning the next move. It's a claustrophobic pot boiler oozing with riddles, and the conclusion, while feeling somewhat reminiscent of a studio stumbling in all "Night of the Living Dead" like with their profit-minded egos, feels part of a…

the ultimate in having your cake and eating it too.
i was completely fascinated by this movie, and actually watching it did nothing to dilute my interest or enthusiasm. the way this thing slides into its third act is *sublime,* and Winstead / Gallagher / Goodman all kill it.
10 CLOVERFIELD LANE could be the film industry's Beyoncé moment.

John Goodman is by far the best character actor of this generation. There is no character that this man cannot play and execute to perfection.
Claustrophobic, intense, and thrilling 10 Cloverfield Lane will not only keep you guessing from start to finish, but it also keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire run-time. Both John Goodman and Mary Elizabeth Winstead deliver convincing and authentic performances. What I liked most is that Mary Elizabeth's character isn't an idiot; she is actually very smart and and puts things together. Usually this isn't the case for this type of film.
If not for the last 5-10 minutes this would be a 4.5/5. I'm still very indifferent on the ending.…

When this came out of nowhere, I was hopeful it would be an actual sequel. The TV ads used the Clovie roar, so I figured it had to have something to do with the original...not just a cheap name grab, but sadly...that's all it is.
It literally is them bickering in a bunker for 90% of the film, and then a final ending sequence that seems very tacked on.
Yes, I liked the three leads. I could watch Winstead in anything and Goodman is always solid.
I did think the trailer basically gave away the whole plot, what little there is. I also didn't think there was much mystery of the motivations of Goodman. Had he not been such a…

Came in with high expectations and they were still exceeded!
I was blown away by this movie. From the very first second you are pulled in and gripped to the very end! I have no complaints. Solid performances by everyone, the direction and editing was so focused and pulled off very well, the tone hit that creepy mark perfectly and I jumped and cringed exactly when it wanted me to jump and cringe. I was on edge the entire time and loved every second. Honestly I don't think I've had a movie going experience that was just so freaking enjoyable in a long time. I remember telling my friend when we walked out of the theater how rare it is…

A surprisingly good time. Probably one of the most tense films I've seen in a while. From memory there was never a dull moment, which is impressive seeing as it's set in a bunker with a cast of three. I really enjoyed how the film constantly played with trust and mystery throughout. John Goodman was great. Definitely worth a watch.

By the end of the film it was interesting to reflect on the fact that Michelle was stuck in one shitty situation inside a bigger shitty situation and that she could've easily been stuck with Howard whether or not there was an alien apocalypse. I felt like (for those familiar with the Fallout games) I could've been watching a film about one of the many different vault stories where people were essentially stuck in a nightmare box while the world ended outside. I dunno just an interesting thought.
