must be very inspiring for actors.
of all the Robert De Niro's sweeping epics I've seen so far including godfather II, the deer hunter, and once upon a time, this one is probably my favorite because of how passionate & sentimental it is.
the sex scenes are brilliant. the directing is fascinating, it's the perfect blend of photographing the photograph and letting the scene breathe. donald sutherland in particular is a major standout as the maniacal fascist coming in between the beautiful friendship.
it's one of those movies to dive into, it's very profound and there are many, many layers to the story. as is known of him, the cinematography is gorgeous.
I really like the way the name Olmo sounds…
