The narrative is a bit manipulative with a few shortcomings, but the brilliant direction, outstanding musical score and terrific lead performance make this biographical drama so compelling. Chadwick Boseman lives and breathes as Jackie Robinson. His presence turns it all the personal and emotional. With its heart at the right place, it ends up as one highly satisfying watch.

So after the (personally) shocking death of the talented Chadwick Boseman I choose to revisit some of his early works as a lead. Lord knows I've tried to watch Get On Up, but I've tried like three times and never lead myself to finish it for some reason. Boseman is great, but something about the film itself and the way its edited together always has me checking off.

I’m pretty sure that this performance and Get on Up one, are the best performances of Chadwick Boseman that you will find.
This is a movie based on real events of how black people got a chance to play in first division with white people, at the same level, which was unthinkable before. I had no idea about this part of the history of baseball and I didn’t know this story about the 42 number and everything related, so I’m glad I watched this movie, you always learn something.

What is provided was the ever-ready Chadwick Boseman as Jackie Robinson, a convincing ballplayer and proud African-American. What hauls us into the story is the rampant animosity of a black player moving into what was regarded as a white man’s game, pressing the black man to excel in a hostile environment.

42 is the great story of America's first professional African American Baseball Player among a league of all white men. Regardless if you're a baseball fan or not; everyone should see this.
NEVER give up on anything, no matter what you're faced with! This was a great movie that told a story about a GREAT man. Han Solo did one heck of a job in this. I think he should be in the discussion come Oscar time.
