A holiday-themed, Agatha Christie-esq, tongue-in-cheek, femme-musical staked with a star-studded [Deneuve, Huppert, Béart, Ardant, Darrieux] cast? What more could you want!
Appropriately colored with a grand Sirkian palette and eye-popping costumes, 8 Women is a madhouse of genre medley infused with rich musical numbers that don't fail to impress. Ludivine Sagnier is a joy to watch but the real treat here is Huppert, whose wonderfully unexpected comedic talents steal the spotlight. Even if it ain't a showstopper, it's a great addition to any Christmas movie belt.
I love musicals. Have I said that before? Guess I'm back on my bullshit.
