One of the most comforting & nonconfrontational Christmas films since the original.
'A Christmas Story Christmas' is the 9th film in this franchise...oh...did you not know, they made 9 OF THESE!?!
Long before the Christmas classic, in 1976 there was a film called 'The Phantom of the Open Hearth'. It followed a teenage Ralphie trying to survive high school with some of the same plot beats like the leg lamp gag.
Then in 1982, they made a sequel called 'The Great American Fourth of July and Other Disasters' which followed Ralphie having a terrible date on the national holiday.
1983 came around and a CHRISTMAS CLASSIC was born. 'A Christmas Story' initially failed at the box office but would gain popularity…
Nowhere close to as pleasantly quirky or unique as the original and not destined to be a Christmas classic. But worth one watch just for the sheer spectacle of the record breaking amount of concentrated nostalgia stuffed into one movie.
I don’t have any nostalgia for A Christmas Story. I believe the first time I watched it was just a few years ago. My wife, however, does. And she really wanted to watch this with our kids. Kids got quite a few laughs out of this. The sledding scenes had them in stitches. I still don’t have strong feelings for the “franchise” one way or the other. But it’s a really solid family Christmas film.
Degrees of Kevin Bacon: 2
1. Peter Billingsley and Jennifer Aniston in The Break Up
2. Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Bacon in Picture Perfect

Follows the now-adult Ralphie as he returns to the house on Cleveland Street to give his kids a magical Christmas like the one he had as a child, reconnecting with childhood friends, and reconciling the passing of his Old Man.
Not only did the quality of this film shock me, especially after seeing that trailer, the way it has resonated since watching may even make it a film I revisit. Obviously, no sequel to this all-time classic is going to surpass it, but to continue the story with this level of heart is not only comforting but refreshing. Most movies in this vein (that have released as of late) come…
Ah nothing quite gets you in the holiday spirit like watching a child get smacked in the face with a snowball and end up in the hospital
I got to see this at an outdoor movie screening event in the frigid cold (that I think also turned out to be it’s movie premiere since it was a red carpet event with the cast & crew)
A Christmas story Christmas is a satisfying sequel for fans of the original while introducing a new generation to Ralphie & his family. A little better (and more fun) than I was expecting. It was really cool seeing almost the entire cast reprise their roles, making this sequel feel more wholesome that way. The ending was a sweet & heartwarming touch.
Loved it!!!
Lots of laughs
Warmth
Was lots of fun!
Will be watching it again.. especially after watching the original.
