watched because the kid loves dogs and cake wars. the super special park they're trying to save is literally like a brown patch with chicken wire around it, and all the houses are hideous mcmansions, so out of curiosity i looked up where it was filmed...fucking round rock!!! so for all its faults it's a pretty accurate depiction of round rock. my kid is making me drive out there so we can do a movie tour to the coffee shop and busted old dog park. anyway i'm giving it 2 stars because we had quite a lot of fun yelling at the tv.
So are we going to overlook the fact that this guy basically kidnaps this poor old lady's only friend for extended periods of time probably without her say?
Two things:
1. Legit cannot sympathise with a character who actively dislikes dogs
2. If you love Christmas so much, WHY are you waiting until 5 days before you shop and decorate?!?!
stars quite possibly the most annoying and self absorbed character of all time and i watched naomi and eli's no kiss list
girl: I just don't want people to think I only care about shopping
boy: who thinks that?
boy, 20 minutes earlier: HAH you probably major in SHOPPING because you're a GIRL
“They’re going to tear this place down” okay relax aaron samuels it’s a totally open area with a weak wooden fence around it not a skyscraper
"People with dogs normally have substance right?"
I don't think anyone involved in this movie knew the plot. And I think every scene was filmed exactly once with the instructions of "make it as awkward as possible."
What a great movie to have as my 100th movie since starting letterboxd 🎉

Not the worst hallmark-esque holiday movie, the only part I don't understand is how the leading lady had low enough self esteem that she was still interested in the leading man after his opening conversation with her revolved around negging the hell out of her.
I predicted in the first 5 minutes what was going to happen. Sadly I prolonged the agony by watching all of it. About as cheesy as a bowl of brie.
aaron samuels in this made my blood boil he was so corny and annoying
also how many times did they say the word substance in this movie
Everyone in this movie except for Dina Meyer is attractive adjacent. (I know this may seem like a shitty thing to say, but since the dawn of cinema, one of the central pleasures of film has been watching people with an unearthly level of physical beauty do things. When a movie robs the viewer of every single pleasure, it can at least provide a beautiful cast.)
Budget Carson Daly with a M. Night Shyamalan shocker at the end! What a twist!!
