“A Perfect Day” does not start at all well, especially for the poor guy found at the bottom of the well. In an attempt to haul him up, so the well water is not contaminated, the rope breaks. At least Mambru(Benicio Del Toro), an aid worker, and Damir(Fedja Stukan), his translator, are on site, even if they do not have any answers. Their teammates, B(Tim Robbins) and rookie Sophie(Melanie Thierry) have problems of their own, namely a dead cow and whether or not it has been mined.
With an excellent international cast that also includes Olga Kurylenko, “A Perfect Day” questions the usefulness and efficacy of aid workers and other outsiders in international conflicts in droll fashion. These themes are…
